I am grateful for those of you who have supported me with your annual paid subscription. A year ago, STRIPE took money out of my business bank account linked to Substack, without my knowledge or permission. All my efforts to make STRIPE return this money have failed. Substack have not yet added other payment processors. Naturally, the idea of STRIPE taking money from my business account dishonestly and without my permission is simply untenable.
For those of you who have already renewed this year, I will be writing content specially for you, as I did today. You can feel free to share it as you see fit. For those of you who would like to pay the annual subscription of $30, which nets me about $25, I will send you a PayPal invoice. In all the years I have used PayPal for business purposes, not once has PayPal taken money from my business account.
Just wanted to give you an update on why your renewal will need to be processed differently in the future. I will still keep a list of paid subscribers on Substack, but payment will go through PayPal when you receive the invoice. I can also use Square, if you prefer. Not everyone likes PayPal.
